SAP Business One

Korean Subsidiary of a Global Contact Lens Company - SAP Business One Implementation Project

2009.08.31.

Company Overview

This project involves the Korean subsidiary of a global leader in contact lenses, serving customers in over 130 countries worldwide. With innovative technology and products, the parent company has improved the vision of millions of people. Its diverse portfolio includes groundbreaking lenses, such as those proven to slow the progression of myopia in children and those designed to meet the needs of contact lens wearers in the digital age. The Korean subsidiary specializes in the import and distribution of contact lenses.

Customer Needs

The Korean subsidiary of this global contact lens company experienced consistent sales growth, highlighting the need to strengthen integration with the company’s global systems. However, the existing legacy system caused data discrepancies between accounting and logistics management, and the lack of real-time data interfaces made it challenging to respond quickly to customer demands. Additionally, the simultaneous relocation of a logistics warehouse and the establishment of a new system underscored the necessity for efficient data integration and operational effectiveness.

Why Woongjin and the Solution were Chosen

The Korean subsidiary selected SAP Business One 2007 to achieve seamless integration between the global system and its WMS (Warehouse Management System). The project included implementing a data warehouse to enhance inventory and logistics management efficiency. Furthermore, SAP's various modules, including integration with e-tax invoice systems and customer relationship management (CRM) systems, provided systematic improvements across the company's operations.

Results

Following the implementation of the ERP system, the Korean subsidiary achieved data consistency between finance and logistics while gaining reliable real-time insights into logistics flows. Inventory management became more efficient, and the newly established data warehouse allowed quick access to essential information. Additionally, the integration of e-tax invoices and diverse discount policy management significantly improved the reliability of management data and enhanced the quality of customer service.
