Woongjin Co., Ltd. (CEO: Suyoung Lee, www.woongjin.com) and SAP Korea (CEO: Sung-yul Lee, www.sap.com/korea) announced a strategic partnership for technology collaboration and joint marketing in the smart factory sector.
On November 20, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Woongjin headquarters to strengthen cooperation and identify new business opportunities in manufacturing solution innovation. The partnership aims to deliver optimized smart factory platforms tailored to Korean manufacturing companies, enabling digital innovation and transformation.
As an SAP Gold Partner, Woongjin has accumulated more than a decade of experience implementing SAP ERP systems across various industries both in Korea and overseas, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Leveraging this expertise, the two companies will jointly provide the SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP MII) platform, an optimized solution for smart factory implementation.
Through SAP MII, Woongjin will provide integrated consulting services designed to organically connect internal and external enterprise processes. SAP MII supports rapid data processing across key smart factory operations, including equipment control, production instruction management, performance aggregation, and analytics. The platform is further enhanced by Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, which are essential for sophisticated smart factory environments. One of its major strengths lies in its ability to virtualize manufacturing lines within a factory system, enabling real-time monitoring of production assets anytime and anywhere.
Sung-yul Lee, CEO of SAP Korea, stated, “As a leading company in Germany’s Industry 4.0 movement, SAP aims to contribute to the development of Korean smart factory infrastructure by fully leveraging its innovative technologies and expertise. We hope Korean manufacturers will experience digital transformation through successful smart factory operations and evolve into Intelligent Enterprises capable of competing on the global stage.”
Through this partnership, the two companies plan to expand SAP MII’s market share in Korea. They emphasized that by integrating SAP MII with SAP S/4HANA—the digital core of enterprise operations—they will provide globally standardized processes that enhance competitiveness for companies preparing for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Suyoung Lee, CEO of Woongjin, commented, “Machine learning and predictive analytics technologies supporting smart factory implementation deliver the highest level of customer value, including cost reduction and performance optimization. Together with SAP Korea, we will dedicate ourselves to accelerating the adoption of smart factories.”
